I love astronomy and love looking at pictures of galaxies, nebula and even planets. With this app that works in the background, my desktop background is updated to the latest picture in NASA’s Astronomy picture of the day.
These generally are the best of the best. It is a great way of starting the day.
Some of them are very timely. For example, this one of the solar spectrum, was presented in June 28, 2015, in celebration of gay pride day.
Others present up to the minute results, like this picture after the first gravity waves were detected, from Feb 11, 2016:
